My letter to get on Humboldt County reality TV series

To: Stacey Margetts Farrell, Vine Ripe Productions, Inc.

February 22, 2013

Hi Stacey,

I think I would be a great person for whatever reality TV show you might develop about the North Coast. First, some suggestions for the “ensemble” around which you might build the show.

  1. KMUD radio in Redway
  2. The Mateel Community Center and the Community Lunch there.
  3. Earth First! and the rest of the feral activist community. We’ve saved forests. Direct actions, arrests and media stunts abound.
  4. I’m working with a handful of people and one of our county supervisors to bring a community access TV station to southern Humboldt for the first time.
  5. I’m also running for Congress again. So my 2014 campaign, which will involve all of the above groups, is another ensemble you might want to consider. I was a 2012 Democratic candidate and received international attention for smoking marijuana at a press conference in front of a closed down dispendary. In 2012, my campaign manager and two other key staffers were homeless people.
  6. Then there is just Garberville itself. You could have a kind of Emerald Triangle version of Northern Exposure, but as a reality TV show. It is my understanding that one of the writers for Northern Exposure lived here for awhile.

I’m involved with all of these projects.

About me. I grew up in Los Angeles, born in 1957. As soon as I was born, I looked out the window, saw the smog, and coughed. I’m one of the highest ranking Eagle Scouts in the country having earned six palms for 51 merit badges. I was the editor and chief photographer for both my junior and senior high school newspapers. I got a nomination to Annapolis and attended briefly in 1975. Once I got there I was informed that they had cut out their biology department so I resigned, as my goals were to become a marine biologist. I was also a rock concert photographer in high school. One of my photos is on the cover of a Todd Rundgren album.

I then attended UC San Diego for five years. Did not finish my degree, but did get to work at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography in the machine shop and I became a SCUBA Dive Master, so I worked on some lobster experiments too. I had the same professor as Al Gore, Roger Revelle. The year I was born he was the first guy to start measuring atmospheric CO2, and it was from him in 1980 that I learned about global warming and started to sound the alarm.

After college I wanted to work in politics, so for a couple of years I worked as a petitioner and then a canvasser for the bottle bill, nuclear freeze, against Reagan’s Central America wars, for rent control in L.A. County, etc.

In 1983 I relocated to the San Francisco Bay Area where I lived until 1988. Then I bought a camcorder and became the world’s first Earth First! direct action videographer. I have an archive unlike any in the world, with at least 400 hours in my vaults. My footage was used on 60 Minutes and in the current documentary, Who Bombed Judi Bari? I’m also a key character in the film. Judi Bari, Darryl Cherney, and I were the core of the North Coast Earth First! movement from 1988-1991, so I’ve gone through the car-bombing of my two closest organizing partners. If I had been in the car that day, as I often was, my legs would have been blown off and I would have likely been a fatality.

After that I was in the Bay Area from 1991-1998. I went through the Oakland Firestorm and lost everything I owned in 1991. I got PTSD and a year later I was homeless and stayed that way for 5 years. Then Judi Bari died and Darryl brought me up here with my videos to help make an album for Jello Biafra of Judi’s best speeches. While homeless, I spent 6,000 hours over 600 days at a friend’s computer. When I ran up against a problem, I rode my bike to Barnes and Noble and read computer books there for a couple of hours. Darryl saw my talents and he hired me to run his Jail Hurwitz reward and web site. I’ve been up here ever since, and lived in the same apartment since July 1998 in downtown Garberville.

However, earlier, as a Bay Area Earth First! organizer I organized the world’s first grassroots organizing campaign against genetic engineering. It was a multi-faceted campaign against a genetically-engineered bacterium called Frostban. The unaltered bacteria has a protein structure which causes ice to freeze at four degrees above freezing. The altered bacteria removed that structure, so the idea was that the night before a frost, farmers would go out and spray this on their flowers to crowd out the natural bacteria temporarily, affording it a four-degree buffer against freezing.

Well, the campaign is known for also being the first sabotage action against GMOs. We pulled up the test plants and two years later bankrupted the company. I got international TV coverage back then. Ultimately, we were extremely successful. Instead of 30 or so tests by a number of companies over the following two years, as was planned, there have been NONE anywhere on earth since 1987. In 2002 the BBC informed me that they considered me a “World Historic Figure” as the “World’s First Genetically-Engineered Crop Trasher.” Thousands of people in Europe and Asia followed my actions with their own.

Skip ahead to a few years ago, and after co-founding the Green party movement in 1980 and working with Greens ever since, I ran as a Democratic Congressional candidate in our new district 2 last year. I achieved international fame not only for smoking my medical marijuana at a press conference and in a speech at Occupy Mendocino last May as a protest against Obama shutting down dispensaries, but for pledging to smoke a joint on the steps of the capital when I’m elected to fight for marijuana. Politico and Huffington Post wrote me up after they saw on the front page of the San Francisco Chronicle a photo of me smoking a joint, and then I was a guest twice (so far) on MSNBC’s The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell and Now with Alex Wagner. Then, Jay Leno did two jokes about me.

You can see an assemblage of those clips and the four Congressional campaign TV spots I made myself and aired on Letterman, CBS Morning Show, etc. I plan much more of this to come.  I invite you to check out this video first. That link is here:

https://vimeo.com/54922543

I also have a 3-hour DVD I put together as a kind of this-is-my-activist/candidate life reel. In it you can see my Frostban coverage and me as a tree-sitter, etc. If you send me a mailing address I can send that to you.

There is much more I can talk with you about. I also have been a climate crisis organizer since 1980 and even coined that meme, “climate crisis.” It is primarily because of the climate crisis, and that we’ve run out of all other options to adequately deal with it, that I’m running for Congress and will continue to do so, election after election until I win, or we’re all dead.

There’s also a lot of Earth First! activist music in my life. I coined the  name of our newest genre, Gaiabilly, and plan to put on a Gaiabilly Festival this year here in Humboldt.

Also, thanks to CSPAN, I attend Congress every day it is in session. I’m also using my ipad to follow the daily journal of Congress as it develops during the day and use a professional app to keep notes on other members of Congress as I watch. So I’ve set myself up a virtual Congress in my one-bedroom apartment. I also run 2 miles a day five days per week and use my ipad to do pushups, sit-ups, and squats. I’ve lost 40 pounds over the last couple of years.

My projects for this year, other than those already mentioned:

Starting a climate group 280 NOW! and will be organizing an International Day of Outrage Against Climate Killers. Picking up on the marijuana theme, I’m launching Obamber Nation and plan Obamber Nation Smoke-Ins around the country. A fat joint is called a bomber. My protest joint was an Obamber, a skinny thing that fell apart. So we plan to re-enact the president’s pot-smoking behaviors as street theater at these Obamber Nation smoke-ins. Also, coming, Obamber Nation rolling papers and a Caffrey for Congress bong, the CongBong.

Since my defeat last June in the primary, I’ve been learning to sing all of The Doors’ songs and plan to form a cover band to sing Doors songs this summer or fall. I’m getting pretty good.

I have a facebook photo album which is in chronological order and is extensively annotated. Going through that is the best “autobiography” I’ve got.

I will definitely be back on MSNBC this year and I’m trying to get on Leno and Bill Maher and several other shows. If I was in your program it would amplify my presence nationally, and my appearances on these shows will draw viewers to the show. Sounds win-win to me. It might even give me enough oomph to get marijuana legalized in next four years.

Welcome to Obama’s Climate Crisis: 97% of Greenland’s ice sheet is NOW melting!

http://www.csmonitor.com/Science/2012/0725/Sudden-Greenland-ice-sheet-melt-baffles-scientists-video

1917585 Welcome to Obamas Climate Crisis: 97% of Greenlands ice sheet is NOW melting!

Besides medical marijuana, my hammering on the imminent dire, cataclysmic threat of Greenland’s ice sheet melting and calving is probably what stands out in most voters’ minds from my 2012 Congressional campaign. I was arguing that 50% of Greenland’s ice sheet is melting. Two months after my defeat it is now up to 97%! Anybody got a better idea than electing me to Congress to do something about this?

Keep in mind that if it is melting at the surface, that water is draining down to the base of the ice sheet too, creating a growing slip-n-slide effect. If the ice sheet collapses in its entirety that will cause a 20-feet increase in sea level, probably, over a 20 year period. If that happens, then the West Antarctic Ice Sheet, which floats on water and is only anchored in place by islands, will go too, snapping it’s moorings to the Transantarctic Mountains and another 20+ feet will be added to global sea levels. This has happened before, 120,000 years ago Earth went through what scientists call “The Madhouse Century.” Global sea levels jumped up 20 feet in about 20 years. Then it dropped at least 50 feet, all of this in a century.

This is our greatest national security threat. It requires immediately commencing a war effort to rebuild a post-fossil fuel, bioregionally-based economic infrastructure and energy system. Nothing less has even half a chance in hell of reducing the stress on these ice sheets IN TIME! Now even the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is scared. The banksters are scared! So, do you still have any excuses for not donating at least something to my 2014 Congressional campaign? I hope every time you think about buying something feeble you think about supporting this campaign instead!

There is no other public figure in the nation making this case. In other words, as I see it, no other hope for addressing this crisis than my election to Congress in 2014, as uphill a climb as that may seem to some of you now. But I was the one candidate out of 12 in the district 2 race who was right about all of this.

Please help Caffrey for Congress 2014 today. Think about the end of a future for your kids and grandkids as reality. Accept the fact that you are one of the people who keeps talking about the emperor’s fine clothing and built your life upon the notion that the emperor isn’t naked, that the climate crisis isn’t about the imminent destruction of human civilization and has needed your help for 30 years. Make up for it by changing today. We don’t have time to dwell on what we didn’t do. We have to get together around our campaign to redirect our energy policy to reduce CO2 levels to 280 ppm as fast as humanly possible. If you aren’t anthropocentric, think about losing the orangutans, mountain gorillas, lions, tigers and polar bears. Take the time you are spending watching Downton Abbey and use it to study up on the global Crisis in the Cryosphere. Read something at least every week. Show your neighbors any of the excellent documentaries that show this.

There is nothing greater you can do to help than make a donation today and join our 280 NOW campaign. Thank you for helping us have a future.

http://CaffreyForCongress.org/make-a-donation Or send your donation to Caffrey For Congress, PO Box 324, Redway, CA 95560.

Start calling your friends and pointing them to this situation. Ask them to help Caffrey for Congress 2014. Don’t be shy any longer. Get at least two other people to also contribute. Raise money tabling in front of a store. Do something NOW! You can afford to donate some minutes and some dollars every month to deal with this. We can make Ecotopia now. We can have it done in a decade or less!

And call your representatives in the state and federal government today too. And Obama of course! Demand that they take a stand and make this elimination of fossil fuels our highest priority or step aside and resign so someone else can do the job, starting with the resignation of Harry Reid from the Senate leadership.

Work Scheduling: How a grassroots organizer shifts into a Congressional candidacy

Candidate lifestyle as of3/1/13

Something that probably isn’t considered too much by Green and progressive Democratic Congressional candidates is convertinng one’s current lifestyle to one that allows one to be first, an effective candidate, and then, an effective Congressional representative. This is especially true the further west you live. I live in California. That means many days in Congress begin at what is 6 or 7 am in my time zone! But I live in Humboldt County! I live on Humboldt Time!

Too bad for me. I’m already attending every House session by watching it live via C-SPAN and using a couple of apps used by the political pros in DC. I’m taking notes on every representative who stands at the podium. I’m starting to follow bills as they pass through committeess, etc. By the time of the 2014 June primary, I hope to be able to claim 1) that I actually “attended” more days in the House than my opponent, our incumbant Congressman, and 2) I know about more of the members of the House than he does.

So, the first principle in designing my lifestyle as a 2014 candidate is to actually jump ahead and shape it to be the lifestyle of an actual Congressman.

So I have an app for an alarm clock that plays songs from my mp3 collection and on days Congress meets I am awakend by The Beatles song “Good Morning,” or Harry Nilsson’s “Gotta Get Up,” or a quirky Sparks song, “Achoo!” at 6 or 7 am. I turn on CSPAN and then go make coffee and breakfast. I can also save time by shaving in front of my computer screen while “in” Congress. I haven’t figured out how to watch Congress, take notes, and shower at the same time though. So, I shave during the periods when they stop everything to cast a vote…

Unfortunately, I haven’t had to get up early very much. In the last 60 days, I think Congress has started its day at 6 or 7 my time (that’s 9 or 10 am there time, already a late start) fewer than ten days. These 3 minute days they’ve been having start at 3 in their afternoons! They’ve averaged a 12-hour work week in the last two months too.

~~~
So, the second level design principle for shaping my lifestyle to be more conducive to my candidacy is the following basic structure for Monday through Friday, regardless of whether the House is meeting.
PERIOD 1: Morning until Noon is networking time. It’s when I check email and social networks, write comments, send letters, and call people to organize projects for my 2014 Congressional bid and for both 280 NOW! and Obamber Nation–my climate crisis/Ecotopian conversion and marijuana legalization activism vehicles outside of my Congressional campaign. This is also when I contact TV shows to become a Green Ecowarrior pundit guest. This is also when I work on web sites.For example, one of the things I’ll be doing during this time of the day next week is writing up my introductory letter, and maybe shoot a video letter to Bill Maher and a couple of other people, and then do followup calls to the producers.
LUNCH: After this first period I have lunch and go for walks some time between 11:30am and 1:30 pm.
On Tuesday after lunch at the Mateel Community Meal, I have a regular meeting to work on the SoHum cable access TV project and often on Thursdays meet with our Humboldt County supervisor Estelle Fennel to also work on the TV project. Also, on County co-sponsored community climate crisis bioregional conversion planning meetings. I’m setting up with Humboldt County those 4-Years-to-Convert War Effort community meetings I’ve been talking about for a long time now. Huffman, Norman Solomon and the other resource-rich candidates who ran against me for Congress in 2012 and thus blocked my effort to use my seat in Congress to start a national bioregional conversion community planning process NOW, well, they haven’t done anything in this regard despite my entreaties to them ever since July.
Period 2: Otherwise, the second block of my work day, the early afternoon block of one to two hours is for my video and radio work. This is when I’ll be editing my next TV commercials, editing my Cahto video, shooting webcasts, reviewing music for my KMUD music specials, such as my recent 5-hour Captain Beefheart and Stephen Kent extravaganzas. This is when I edit things like my Governor Psychopath video about Arnold Schwarzenegger. This is a fundamentally important block for me, especially considering how my ADD and PTSD and OCD brain works. This block gets me out of the house (and The House!) and gets me out of computer/TV/radio infoglut mode into a right brain counterbalancing from the most intense part of the day, the morning in Congress experiencing PURE EVIL!
It’s also a kind of fun and play time, relatively speaking. You see, I think we all should be moving toward 20-hour work weeks… for a lot of reasons: mental health and the pursuit of happiness, time with kids and elders and other kin and neighbors, job-sharing, safer and cleaner communities, etc. That applies to me  too!
So, I’m cheating here. Even though it’s more playful, creative, and people-engaging time, I’m still working, so it doesn’t really reduce my work week at all. It just makes it seem like it.
Then I go for a run. Sometimes I might go after period 3 instead of before it.
Period 3: The third section, from maybe 3 or 4 until 6 is my reading and writing time. That’s all of my writing other than what I might get into in the morning once in awhile when I start out just answering a fb comment but it turns into a screed.
It encloses all of my news reading, climate research, marijuana news reading and research, econ reading, and essay writing, such as my 8-page climate letter to Obama, and a few other short to medium length essays I’m working on right now about the national debt myth, Iran, and terrorism, and also the book I’m writing.
This section is also when I might start watching MSNBC, Hartmann and Democracy Now on FSTV, listening to Mike Malloy and Thom Hartmann podcasts (although I usually like to listen to Mike live if my brian isn’t info-pooped out by then. And it’s when I watch documentaries on climate, GMOs, Ted Talks, etc. So, it enclosed about 80% of the info radio and TV time I absorb during the work week. A reason why I came up with this simple fundamental daily structure is that it is very easy for me to spend all day watching and listening to news. Democracy Now, KMUD News, MSNBC, Hartmann, MSNBC, Malloy, Hartmann Big Picture, MSNBC… And then there are the weekend shows.
Some of this leaks out into other times of the day, of course. I read books throughout the day. In fact, I can read all day long, which is also what inspired this particular format for my day to begin with! Some short and easy videos, like my recent Piano and Fireworks on the beach video, I’ll edit in the evening. I’m working now on a video I just shot of Luke and the tile art he has been building at the new Chautauqua market.
Then, I theoretically clock out at the end of my 7 am to 6 pm work day.
Period 4: My music time! Sometimes I do my daily hour, hour-and-a-half of learning and singing Doors songs in the morning while I’m in Congress (neat trick!). And so far, my singing practice has mostly gone on in the morning on the days when Congress hasn’t met. Sometimes I just get inspired to do it after lunch during period 2, but that will be shifting in the coming weeks. This is also when I’ll be teaching myself guitar and practicing piano and figuring out how this synthesizer app I have works! It’s when I visit friends and watch movies. Since Fringe ended, there isn’t really anything on TV entertainment wise that I watch. Newsroom, when it comes back.
That’s it structurally. This ssimple four-block structure allows me to develop a workday discipline and patterns without being overwhelming with tasks and info. and a day that would otherwise be way too diced-and-sliced for anyone’s mental being. It allows me to breathe throughout the day every day. And it’s flexible. If some meetings come up, I can just drop an afternoon section or two on that day and resume my normal pattern the following day.
Next note I’ll tell you about how I prioritize projects within those daily work sections. I use a mind map.
Andy Caffrey’s climate conversation with Pres. Obama, also Pot Legalization, and how to fight Republican Psychopaths
March 10, 2013
President Barack Obama
The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Ave.
Washington, DC 20500
Dear Mr. President,
I’m thrilled to see that you are opening a national dialog about the Climate Crisis and what we should do about it. I have dedicated over 30 years of my life to organizing my community, the nation, and the rest of the world to fight the Climate Crisis with the urgency required of us to stabilize the planet’s ecosystems upon which we all depend.
Unfortunately, for all of that time, both the Democratic and Republican parties have betrayed the trust of the American people and failed to provide any national leadership about the greatest national security threat of all time, the death of our life support systems from climate destabilization and ecological meltdown. Omnicide.
You are the first U.S. president to actually get Climate Crisis legislation through Congress and do something about it. Tragically, what you have done so far is astronomically far from adequate, so I appreciate that you too recognize this and want to do more. Hopefully, you’ll want to do all that is necessary to save the planet, for the 30 years of national betrayal by the two corporatist parties means we now have only one adequate choice left: an all-out war effort to convert our nation’s infrastructure to a post-fossil fuel one as fast as humanly possible. You should use this to fight Republican Austerity proposals.
~
Back in 1996, I coined the meme Climate Crisis because people were reacting to greenhouse effect and global warming as if they were going to receive a free hot tub from Mitt Romney! But my research on the polar ice crisis revealed that this planetary warming could ultimately, through negative feedback loops, trigger our immersion back into a 100,000-year long ice age glaciation period. So global warming is a grossly misleading and inadequate term.
It doesn’t put things into human terms. Likewise with greenhouse effect, even though that might sound pretty good to some of the local marijuana growers in my neighborhood of Humboldt and Mendocino counties.
My preferred term for defining the Climate Crisis is Climate Destabilization.  Again, Climate Change can mean something good, so it’s no good for our purpose of rallying the nation. But Climate Crisis puts it into the human context.  A crisis is something we must respond to with urgency in order to prevent dire, and in our case, lethal consequences. That is what we face right now and have faced for over 30 years. Or not faced…
~
So the first strategic question you have to ask and answer is, “How much must we reduce our fossil-fuel emissions and by when in order to prevent Climate Chaos?” This is a scientific question first, not a political or economic one. There are No Jobs on a Dead Planet.
If you and your team can’t answer that question, then you really don’t know what you’re doing. If you were a four-pack-a-day tobacco smoker, wouldn’t you want a doctor who knew whether or not you needed to quit 4 cigarettes a day or all four packs? It makes a difference! It makes all of the differenceAs our president, you have taken on the role of Planetary Climate Doctor.
We expect as much of you because, metaphorically speaking and literally, if a tsunami is heading our way, it matters that you get us off the beach and far enough away in time. If you don’t, it doesn’t matter if you had good intentions to move us in the right direction, those of us who don’t get far enough away in time will all be just as dead as if we remained on the beach drinking Mai-Tais.
The Republican and Democratic party leadership of the last 30 years failed to meet their obligation to pass legislation to get us far enough away in time from the devastation of the accelerating Climate Crisis by doing enough to prevent it! So far, all of you have failed to maintain our national security adequately to protect the victims of Superstorm Sandy against the Climate Catastrophes brought down upon us by the fossil-fuel lobbyists. It was a gross, catastrophic national security failure by majorities of both parties!
So when it comes to national strategic planning, you should start with defining what Climate Chaos actually means, and specifically what we must prevent. University of Chicago Geophysics Professor David Archer points out in his book, The Long Thaw, that what we’re putting into the atmosphere now will change it for 100,000 years! So you better get it right, sir, for we get no second chance.  After 30 years of Congressional and Presidential inaction, you might say that this is our last chance! You are our last hope! You can’t get squeezed-out toothpaste back in the tube!
I would suggest to you three foundational criteria for defining and preventing what would be Climate Chaos: 1) the collapse of the global economy; 2) preventing the polar ice sheets from disintegrating and causing cataclysmic rapid sea level increases, and assuring that the mountain glaciers remain extant; and 3) preventing the ecological biodiversity meltdown of Earth’s terrestrial and ocean ecosystems by massively investing in restoring nature’s capital, its native biodiversity and native ecosystems.
Regarding the polar ice Crisis in the Cryosphere, I direct you to my Summer 1998 Earth Island Journal article, “Antarctica’s Deep Impact Threat: Is a Madhouse Century Knocking at Our Door?” at
http://www.caffreyforcongress.org/earth-island-journal-antarcticas-deep-impact-threat/
According to 2007 Australian of the Year and Chief Commissioner of the Australian Climate Convention environmental sustainability professor Tim Flannery, no one on Earth predicted the 2002 collapse of the Larsen B ice shelf, but as you’ll see in my article, I did so back in 1998. So I know what I’m talking about, even if no one else is bringing this up. Everything I’m presenting here comes straight out of peer-reviewed science journals, primarily ScienceNatureNew Scientist, and also from Scientific American.
Obama, also Pot Legalization, and how to fight Republican Psychopaths
Consider the above graphics. They show the extraordinarily rapid increase in the area of Greenland’s ice sheet that is melting from beneath. Now, far more than half of Greenland’s ice sheet is sitting on a layer of water like a Slip-n-Slide! If the entire ice sheet goes, then we are looking at a 20-feet high global sea level jump! If history is a judge, then that will probably happen, once started, abruptly over a 20-year period, way too fast for the world’s coastal cities to mount adequate defenses and survive.
If only 1/20th of it goes, that’s still a foot of global sea level increase! Consider that it was less than one inch of sea level increase from all of the greenhouse gas warming to date that increased so severely the impact of Superstorm Sandy on the people and places along the northeast coast.
Further, that one foot could raise sea level enough to break up all of the West Antarctic Ice Sheet (WAIS) and collapse the continent’s ice shelf system. Most of the Mexico-sized WAIS is sitting over the ocean, anchored together only by some islands and tethered laterally to the Transantarctic Mountains. This is unlike the Antarctic ice sheet east of the Transantarctic Mountains which rests over land the size of China covering it with 2 to 3 miles of ice.
120,000 years ago, something like this kind of extremely rapid, gargantuan polar ice sheet collapse happened and Earth entered what scientists coined a “Madhouse Century” during which sea level jumped 20 feet higher from where it is now and then plummeted at least 50 feet in just one hundred years! That’s a net change of at least 70 feet over one hundred years! That must have been almost a foot of sea level change every year! This kind of stuff really does happen that abruptly on planet Earth and is about to happen again!
The Madhouse Century then initiated the last 100,000 yearlong glaciation era!
My hypothesis is that back then, Greenland’s and West Antarctica’s ice sheets, probably commencing with Greenland’s first, rapidly disintegrated due to the usual, natural interglacial greenhouse gas warming, and sea level eventually crossed a critical, catastrophic threshold uplifting the WAIS which became “unmoored” from the Transantarctic Mountains causing it to largely disintegrate. Coincidentally, for decades climate scientists have predicted that if WAIS goes, it would cause a global 20-feet sea level increase over 20 years.
So, Mister President, you must provide the extraordinarily challenging and courageous leadership that brings about the necessary, albeit radical, changes that will restabilize the ice sheets, prevent massive methane and CO2 “burping” from the permafrost, and save the world’s forests from ecosystem killing, cataclysmic conflagrations. (You should check out the documentary, The Day the Oceans Boiled.) In fact, Mr. President, it will require that you become the greatest hero of all time! Nothing less will save our nation. As you can see in the following Christian Science Monitor article, just during your 2012 campaign, since July 2012, the surface melting of Greenland’s ice sheet is now 97%!!!
How much do we have to reduce our fossil fuel emissions and how fast? Three years ago, we saw for the first time in the ice and plankton records, the history of CO2 levels and glaciation periods going back 2.1 million years. Please check out:
http://www.chron.com/business/article/2-1-million-year-high-measured-for-CO2-in-1721839.php
My understanding of your administration’s Climate Crisis policy is that your strategic goal is to allow CO2 levels to peak at 450 ppm to, presumably, limit the global atmospheric temperature increase to 2 degrees centigrade, and are directing us to an 80% reduction below 1990 levels by 2050. If that remains your national climate defense strategy, Mr. Obama, then you have already doomed us all.  You will kill the planet, at least as far as we’re all concerned, certainly as far as your children are concerned.
In 1990, David Suzuki pointed out that the EPA, the Woods Hole Research Center, and the IPCC issued reports indicating that we must reduce our emissions on the order of 50-80% below 1990 levels by 2000 or 2005.  We did nothing of the kind, as almost all of the Republican and Democratic politicians alike instead treasonously conspired and aided the fossil fuel industry in subverting our ecological national defense–instead of heeding the clarion call of Earth Day in 1970 and developing a Green national security industrial plan to put us on the sure path towards true ecological sustainability forever after. So our emissions steadily grew, these politicians and their Big Energy corporate masters relentlessly subverting and shredding our national security!
But our inaction doesn’t mean we get any more time! In fact, the climate science since that time indicates that those reports underestimated the rate of ecological change brought about by greenhouse gas warming and what is required of our response to it. Because of the Republican and Democratic inaction for 30 years, and the extremely rapid rate of change that the physics of climate destabilization requires we must now make in our society, capitalism itself may fail, like the other dinosaurs before them, unable to make the rapid changes required of us, unable to make a sharp enough turn before going over the waterfall.
What we are talking about is redirecting trillions of dollars to rebuild the entire nation’s infrastructure away from fossil fuels and nuclear power toward bioregional sustainability as fast as humanly possible, since we’ve already missed the 2000-2005 deadline. Hopefully, God will accept your late homework!
Here are the numbers:
Throughout the last 2.1 million years, during which the human species evolved, almost the entire Pleistocene epoch, the planet oscillated between glaciation periods of roughly 100,000 years length (at least for the last 800,000 years or so) with interglacial periods like this one now in which our entire civilization evolved, of roughly 10,000 years duration. (Did you know that Homo sapiens is less than 200,000 years old? We are children of the ice age!)
We are now 10,000 years into the current interglacial, the Holocene, so due for a new glaciation era. (Please don’t listen to the scientists who have christened this era of climate crisis the Anthropocene. Human impacts are certainly the dominant ones effecting Earth now, but there is no evidence that we have left the cycle of Pleistocene glaciation oscillations yet!) As I point out in my Madhouse Century article, accelerated global warming could bring about the disintegration of the WAIS, which would mean the outward expansion of miles thick ice now held in check over the entire Antarctic continent by the ice shelves that ring 97% of Antarctica.  That would increase the overall reflectivity of the planet and thus, cool it.
That would cause the opposite of what we see right now at the North Pole over the Arctic Ocean.  There, the ice which is currently disappearing is decreasing Earth’s overall albedo (reflectivity), and thus, causing the planet to absorb an accelerating amount of heat.
But the outward expansion of an unleashed 2-mile thick Antarctic ice sheet, on the other hand, would double the area of high reflectivity in the Antarctic region, thus increasing the planet’s heat reflectivity and cooling it. Hence, it could bring about a new glaciation era. So we can’t mess around anymore!
The deep sea foraminifera record has recently revealed that the lowest atmospheric CO2 levels ever got during the Pleistocene was 181 ppm. Before humans entered the picture, the highest it usually got was around 280 ppm,  only peaking once as high as 297 ppm. We are now at over 395 ppm–a 2.4 ppm increase over just one year ago–and we will hit 398 ppm this summer (the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere oscillates between summer and winter)
We have expanded the entire range of natural carbon dioxide change by a factor of 2! For 2.1 million years CO2 levels only oscillated by a range of 100-116 ppm (from 181 to 297 ppm). Now, in just 200 years, we’ve added another 115 ppm to that 280 ppm normal interglacial maximum!
In An Inconvenient Truth, Al Gore talks about his college professor Roger Revelle. Coincidentally, Roger Revelle was my chemistry professor a generation later at UCSD and the man who first informed me of global warming back in 1980. He’s the guy who first started measuring atmospheric CO2 levels at Mauna Loa back in 1958 (also, coincidentally, my first year of life). Back then, only 55 years ago, the atmosphere had 315 ppm of CO2. That means that all of human history before I was born had added only 35 ppm to the preindustrial (natural) levels.
But since then, just during my lifetime, we have added 80 ppm more! 5,000 years of human civilization added 35 ppm. Our modern globalized economy since 1958 has added 80 ppm in 55 years. This is an emergency! All hands on deck! This is why nothing less than an all-out “war effort” to convert immediately from fossil fuels and nuclear power (which requires massive carbon dioxide production to sustain), similar to our response to World War II, is our only moral and ecologically sound path. It’s the only path forward that doesn’t make the planet inhospitable during our kids’ lifetime.
Therefore, I think we have to aim to reduce our carbon dioxide-equivalent emissions 80% below 1990 levels in ten years or less.  We have to aim to get back to the only reasonably stable level, the preindustrial level of 280 ppm (but even at that low–the level at which the previous glaciation periods commenced–we still might go into a new Pleistocene glaciation era! So maybe we need to eventually get it down to a “stable” 250 ppm to prevent that from happening!)
During my 2012 California Democratic Congressional campaign, the citizens of my district, CA-2, and all eleven of my competitors were extremely receptive to this message and modified their positions in this Climate Action NOW! direction. The day after my unfortunate defeat last June, a new report came out of Berkeley indicating we have just a few years to start redirecting our infrastructure construction away from the coal and oil path that we are currently set to pursue.
http://newscenter.berkeley.edu/2012/06/06/scientists-uncover-evidence-of-impending-tipping-point-for-earth/
http://www.bbc.com/future/story/20121101-a-looming-mass-extinction
I know it’s not in your basic nature to wage all-out political warfare, but this time it’s US or them.  You must take up sides. There is no future at all for the fossil fuel and nuclear power industries. We have to let them fall. I know that’s a lot to accept at this point, Mr. President, but please do the math. Once you conclude along with me about how much and how fast we must bail on fossil fuels and nuclear power, in order to act morally, you’ll find no path that leaves those industries standing but also reduces our emissions at least 80% below 1990 levels by 2022, which is what we must do no matter what! It’s simply not possible in an economy where a 4% growth rate is considered robust and a 2% growth rate a recession. There’s just not enough room for them, like giant oil tankers, to make the sharp turn that we must make. They aren’t economically flexible enough.
Ironically, by fighting the national energy conversion effort for 40 years, it is the conservatives who will thus end up killing capitalism. You can read much more about this and my vision for Ecotopian conversion at my Congressional campaign web site:
http://CaffreyForCongress.org
And the last concern I would like to share with you in this letter is about the human impacts of unabated climate destabilization. I am a survivor of the 1991 Oakland Firestorm which destroyed the homes of 20,000 people, a direct result of repeated years of drought due to greenhouse gas warming. So I am already a Climate Crisis Environmental Refugee, right here in America.
As a result, I suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The Climate Crisis is bringing about an epidemic of PTSD sufferers vastly more extensive than that produced by any war to date. When I watched the first of the Twin Towers fall, the first idea to flash through my mind was the realization that, at that moment, a million people were starting to get PTSD because of that trauma. Tens of thousands more will now get a life sentence of this debilitating disorder from Superstorm Sandy. Twenty-four hundred Sandy victims are still homeless after three months living in tents in 20 degree weather.
A European climate action group called ASEED Oilwatch included in a book they published for the 2000 UN climate conference at The Hague, an article I wrote about my firestorm experience and getting PTSD. Please check it out. It’s called “A Change in the Wind… Climate Change and Human Trauma.” Every year of inadequate actions means the suffering of millions more people and the extinction of thousands more species.
http://www.caffreyforcongress.org/change-in-the-wind/
So people suffer PTSD because the Republicans and Democrats have failed us to what I consider a criminal and even murderous extent.  We need you to now lead us and fight them them on a changed path before it’s too late.  And too late is not a metaphor. It’s physics. It’s real, and nature has set it, but we don’t know yet when too late is except we know it’s imminent. Nature bats last!
We can’t wait for your successor to come along and lead the fight. It’s entirely up to you. You have to start framing the issue. The Republicans ran all over you and the other Democrats with the framing on every issue of your first term. Now, it’s time for you to fight for US as if our lives depend upon it because they do! And you should start by shutting down the Keystone XL pipeline today! We have to leave fossil fuels behind starting today!
If you would like to learn how to talk to the American people about all of this, I invite you to check out my Congressional campaign videos at http://youtube.com/CaffreyForCongress
Andy Caffrey
2012 & 2014 Democratic candidate for Congress, CA-2
P.S.You may have seen me on MSNBC or Jay Leno’s jokes about me. I’m the Congressional candidate who smoked a joint at a campaign press conference in Fairfax, CA last May as a direct action against your administration’s attacks on medical cannabis dispensaries. Please call me. We need to powwow on pot legalization and respecting the sanctity of medical cannabis dispensaries. Your administration’s actions are causing thousands of Americans, including thousands of American war veterans, to suffer and live in hiding and in shame. I get letters all the time from families of veterans explaining how they have to hide their medical marijuana use from everyone they know or lose their military pensions or even get arrested! It really is medicine for many people.
I may have recently saved my best friend’s mother-in-laws life with cannabis. After completing radiation therapy last Spring for lung cancer, she had been unable to eat anything except liquid meals since July because of nausea and no appetite.  Everyone feared she would be dead in six months. The first night after she tried cannabis, she ate rotisserie chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy, and peas!
I named the skinny joint I smoked in Fairfax,  an Obamber, and plan to launch Obamber Nation protest smoke-ins around the nation this coming year, especially in Washington and Colorado. Obamber Nation rolling papers are coming soon too.  Alternatively, if you are now ready to do the right thing, I can help you sell marijuana legalization to the American people. Oh, and you can place your order for a CongBong, the official Caffrey for Congress 2014 campaign bong.
P.P.S. Did you know that all of the Republican senators and probably all of the House Republicans easily meet the diagnostic criteria for anti-social personality disorder, a form of psychopathy? That means they literally have no conscience or honor.  But they can fake it pretty well. So any strategy you may develop to deal with the Climate Crisis based on appealing to the presumed consciences of Republican legislators is doomed to utter failure. Please check the psychopathy checklist at
http://www.caffreyforcongress.org/the-psychopathic-right-psychopathy-checklist-using-pclsv-corporation-as-psychopath/
You need to kick their asses!  As hard as you possibly can!  You’ll need the American people behind you in order to do that. I will support you on this! The rest of us will support you on this if you provide the powerful, unequivocal leadership that we’re counting on you to provide!
I know you can do this, Mister president. In the first two months of your second term you are already showing more leadership and more moral courage by relentlessly hitting the road with your economics teach-ins than you did in your entire first term. Go for it, sir!
Please make your contribution today to Caffrey for Congress 2014!
The Reaganomic/Republican Redistribution of Wealth back to the Richest 1%
Let’s be clear about reality. There never would have even been a sequester deal proposal to begin with if Boehner’s psychopathic Republicans weren’t running/ruining Congress and holding America hostage.
Top 1 percent 1 The Reaganomic/Republican Redistribution of Wealth back to the Richest 1%
As published in Robert Reich’s book Aftershock: The Next Economy and America’s Future.
In 1928, the wealthiest one percent gathered in to themselves 23% of the nation’s total income. That dropped to 16-17% during the 1930s, to 11 to 15% during the 1940s, and to 9-11% in the 1950s (when Eisenhower, a Republican, was president) and 1960s. In the 1970s it was down to 8-9%.
Then Reaganomics kicked in, the greatest transference of wealth from the middle class to the filthy rich in American history. Which is why only stupid people in the middle class can be Republicans and Reaganomicisits.
In the 1980s the rich and Reagan Crime Syndicate stole back middle class wealth so they vacuumed back up to the wealthiest one percent 10-14% of the nation’s income. Republicrat Bill Clinton got them back to 15-19% by the late 1990s and by 2005, it hit 21% after four years of Bush and a Republican Congress. It has now returned to the pre-Great Depression high of 23% again!
It’s even higher now thanks to the Greatest Organized Crime Syndicate and Terrorism Network in world history, the Republican Party of George W. Bush, John Boehner, and Mitch McConnell, three psychopaths.
It should be no wonder, therefore, that we now still have a Republican-led conscienceless Congress which is closing the doors of the federal, state, and local governments and literally dismantling the US democratic institutions of government. When they made the sequester deal, the Republicans were demanding $2.5 trillion in non-military spending. Shutting down the government. I warned about this in my first TV spot for my 2012 Congressional campaign:
http://youtu.be/3jSnNteczU8
This massive Republican and Clinton Democratic looting of America and sucking of income to the rich is why HALF THE PEOPLE OF MICHIGAN now no longer have local government. They have state-appointed executives running things and selling off city and county assets to pay off city debts, which is in actuality just the latest massive Republican scheme to get more money and land into the hands of the rich. If the rich weren’t undertaxed, the people of Detroit and Flint Michigan would have had adequate funding and never have had local governments going broke. Thus no need to have an executor.
I bet you don’t know that cities only exist as a franchise of the state. That’s why as cities go broke from this unabated Republican looting spree you will find more and more state governments effectively dismantling their local governments across the nation. This is Republicratic Fascism. This is how we lose our democracy. This is why we need new, anti-corporatist Democrats in Congress NOW who will instead start going for Republican blood like I went after Advanced Genetic Sciences in 1987. Now there is no Advanced Genetic Sciences. It’s time for the Republican Party to be driven into extinction instead of the world’s millions of species!
So, economically, we only have an under taxed super-rich problem. All the other problems–national debt, funding entitlements, Medicare, and Social Security forever, a Climate Crisis war effort to convert from fossil fuels are solved when we fix this problem. Tax them now until they are back down to 8% of the nation’s post-tax income. Reinstate the Eisenhower Republican top tax rate of 94%. Fix these problems and then launch the national war effort to convert ASAP from fossil fuels and nuclear power so we can save the Freakin’ Planet!
The US has no “spending problem” or a need to “cut entitlements.” If a member of Congress uses either of these terms you can be sure they meet the diagnostic criteria for psychopathy. Indeed, the Republicans are running a government of psychopaths, which is termed a pathocracy.
There is no “debt crisis” either. There are only two problems here: Gross undertaxing of the wealthiest Americans and Republican Psychopaths in Congress taking down our democracy and the global economy. It’s time to build a bioregionally-secure relocalized new economy. It’s time to build a New Green America!
Undertaxing the rich leads to the end of democracy. CONGRESS AND PRESIDENT OBAMA! TAX THE RICH NOW! IT’S ALL YOU HAVE TO DO! YOU MUST DO IT RIGHT NOW!
The Psychopathic Right Psychopathy checklist using PCL:SV
Conclusions by layman Andy Caffrey
So how do Republicans in Congress and Bush administration officials score on the official Psychopathy evaluation checklist (PCL:SV) used professionally, developed by Dr. Robert D. Hare? How do Democrats, especially the ConservaDems score?
How to score:
Score 0 points for does not apply at all
Score 1 point if sometimes true
Score 2 points if it is characteristic
I have put 2 points next to every quality displayed by every Republican who sent America to war in Iraq and Afghanistan and sustained those wars. That total adds up to 16 points, 2 points shy of a psychopathy diagnosis. But you can easily add points for, e.g. George W. Bush, for 1) impulsive, and 2) has a history of adolescent antisocial behavior, which adds 4 points to his baseline Republican Psychopathy score for a total score of 20 points, 2 points above the minimum for a diagnosis of psychopathy. George W. Bush is a Psychopath, as are Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice, Gonzalez, etc.
A government run by psychopaths is a Pathocracy. The Democrats have allowed the Republicans to turn the U.S. democracy into a Pathocracy. Non-psychopaths always lose to psychopaths because they lack the ruthlessness of psychopaths. This is why Mitt Romney, Mitch McConnell, John Boehner, Paul Ryan, and Eric Cantor and the rest of the Republicans in Congress always lie! They call it pathological lying for a reason, because the relentlessness of their never-ending lying behavior is characteristic of only psychopaths.
Interpersonal:
Superficial (2)
Grandiose (plays by own rules, society’s rules ignored) (2)
Deceitful (2)
Affective:
Lacks Remorse (2)
Lacks Empathy (2)
Doesn’t Accept Responsibility (2)
Lifestyle:
Is Impulsive
Lacks Goals
Is Irresponsible (2)
Antisocial:
Has a history of:
Poor behavioral control
Adolescent Antisocial Behavior
Adult Antisocial Behavior (2)
~~~

Most people score less than 3

Average score for criminals is 13

Minimum score for all Republicans in Congress and Bush administration is 16

Cut score for psychopathy is 18

Maximum score is 24

Now, can you pick out the Psychopaths in the Democratic Party? Hint: Two of them have the last name Clinton.

~~~
In 2004 a documentary called The Corporation, and an accompanying book entitled The Corporation: The Pathological Pursuit of Profit and Power were released.
This brilliant documentary is essential viewing! It opens by applying the Psychopathy checklist to the corporation as a generic entity, examining key characteristics fundamental to virtually all corporations because they are all created out of the very same legal structure that defines what is a corporation in the United States.
Conclusion: The Corporation is a Psychopathic entity. This is why “Corporatism” itself is a system of expressing Economic Psychopathy. Corporatism is the magnetic nucleus of our Democracy-turned-Pathocracy. It’s why our federal government will remain a Pathocracy and Destroy the Planet unless and until Corporatism itself is Defeated by Organized Americans and the rest of our fellow Human Earthlings and the psychopaths are ousted from government!
Here’s what the book has to say about it:
The corporation itself may not so easily escape the psychopath diagnosis… Unlike the human beings who inhabit it, the corporation is singularly self-interested and unable to feel genuine concern for others in any context. Not surprisingly, then, when we asked Dr. Hare to apply his diagnostic checklist of psychopathic traits (italicized below) to the corporation’s institutional character, he found there was a close match.
The corporation is irresponsible. Dr. Hare said, because “in an attempt to satisfy the corporate goal, everybody else is put at risk.”
Corporations try to “manipulate everything, including public opinion,” and they are grandiose, always insisting “that we’re number one, we’re the best.”
lack of empathy and asocial tendencies are also key characteristics of the corporation, says Hare–”their behavior indicates they don’t really concern themselves with their victims”; and corporations often refuse to accept responsibility for their own actions and are unable to feel remorse: “if [corporations] get caught [breaking the law], they pay big fines and they…continue doing what they did before anyway. And in fact in many cases the fines and the penalties paid by the organization are trivial compared to the profits they rake in.”
Finally, according to Dr. Hare, corporations relate to others superficially–”their whole goal is to present themselves to the public in a way that is appealing to the public [but] in fact may not be representative of what th[e] organization is really like.” Human psychopaths are notorious for their ability to use charm as a mask to hide their dangerously self-obsessed personalities. For corporations, social responsibility may play the same role. Through it they can present themselves as compassionate and concerned about others when, in fact, they lack the ability to care about anyone or anything but themselves.
~~~

Take the large and well-known energy company that once was a paragon of social responsibility and corporate philanthropy. Each year the company produced a Corporate Responsibility Annual Report; the most recent one, unfortunately its last, vowed to cut greenhouse-gas emissions and support multilateral agreements to help stop climate change.

The company pledged further to put human rights, the environment, health and safety issues, biodiversity, indigenous rights, and transparency at the core of its business operations, and it created a well-staffed corporate social responsibility task force to monitor and implement its social responsibility programs.

The company boasted of its development of alternative energy sources and the fact it had helped start the Business Council for Sustainable Energy. It apologized for a 29,000-barrel oil spill in South America, promised it would never happen again, and reported that it had formed partnerships with environmental NGOs to help monitor its operations.

It described the generous support it had provided communities in the cities where it operated, funding arts organizations, museums, educational institutions, environmental groups, and various causes throughout the world. The company which consistently ranked as one of the best places to work in America, strongly promoted diversity in the workplace. “We believe,” said the report, “that corporate leadership should set the example for community service.”

Unfortunately, this paragon of corporate responsibility, Enron, was unable to continue its good works after it collapsed under the weight of its executives’ greed, hubris, and criminality.

Caffrey’s Redwood Times letter: US officials have killed more children than Adam Lanza

Published in Redwood Times, 1/22/13, page A4

As the media focuses, hour after hour on the horrors of Sandy Hook (and I’m not knocking that), and how to prevent American-on-American gun violence here in the US, I ask you, who is the more monstrous killer of children and which kind of gun murder do we most urgently need to stop

Is it another Adam Lanza killing the next set of Sandy Hook students, or the George W. Bushes, Bill Clintons, George H.W. Bushes, and the members of Congress that for two decades backed them, all of whom each are responsible for the horrific gun and explosives deaths, deaths from illegitimate sanctions, and the terrorizing for YEARS and deaths of hundreds of thousands of Iraqi children, hundreds of thousands more Iraqi adults, and the irradiation (from depleted uranium) of the Middle East which will devastate the lives of millions of future children? Same for the massacres and irradiation of children and adults in Afghanistan.

At this point, even Obama has now terrorized and murdered more Afghani children than Lanza terrorized and killed American children.

And before that with LBJ, Nixon, Ford, Carter & Reagan in SE Asia and Latin America…. Death Squads! An American tradition!

If they’re not white American kids–at least middle class–we don’t care about them. Really care, in the sense of getting off our rear ends and actively engaging in society to do something about it.

I haven’t seen a single story in any mainstream media about that!

Far more children are massacred or horribly mangled each year by cars too, than by guns. And we DO have a huge domestic gun problem. Don’t get me wrong about that.

THOSE are my priorities. You see, this is why Americans don’t see the US as having ALREADY BECOME A FASCIST NATION. People will say, “but the Nazi’s rounded up gays and Jews and Catholics and labor organizers and communists and tortured and massacred millions of them in death camps, We don’t do that!

Oh, yes we do! It’s just that most of it is done outside of the borders of the USA in Third World nations. And we do it purely to dominate the economies of those nations for our corporate overlords. For over 50 years the Republicans and Democrats running the federal government have massacred millions and millions of innocent people, including children and babies, they’ve pouedr billions of gallons of pollution on them, devastating their bodies and passing that genetic damage on to all their future descendants in these Third World countries.

And it is done inside the USA too. In my neighborhood homeless people have been rounded up and thrown in jail for being homeless! But it’s mostly prevalent domestically in the poorer and darker skinned neighborhoods.

So if you live in the castle with the emperor, if you’re white-skinned, you at least, along with the dogs, always get the table scraps. It’s much worse for those outside the castle walls.

Graph shows we pay more for military than rest of federal government combined

EyeTVSnapshot Graph shows we pay more for military than rest of federal government combined

More for Military than Government

Extraordinary Graph. Red column shows “tax expenditures.” It shows how much much all of the corporate and personal tax credits and deductions cost us.

The next two columns show how much it costs to pay for Medicare and Social Security, which is irrelevant to the federal budget since they are funded by payroll taxes.

So that leaves the two blue columns on the right. One shows military expenditures, the other shows every other federal expenditure combined! WE SPEND MORE ON THE MILITARY THAN ON EVERYTHING ELSE THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT DOES COMBINED! IT COSTS US MORE TO HAVE OUR MILITARY THAN IT COSTS TO RUN THE ENTIRE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT!

This is, of course, an underrepresentation of military expenditures.

In a point-by-point comparison, utilizing the American Psychiatric Association’s Psychopathy Checklist-Revised (PCL-R), its official psychopath diagnostic tool, former 2012 and current 2014 Democratic Congressional candidate and Humboldt County resident Andy Caffrey re-edited former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger’s recent 60 Minutes interview. He reveals Schwarzenegger’s obvious psychopathy. Caffrey’s 40-minute online video is provocatively entitled Governor Psychopath.

“My life has been devastated by psychopaths with whom I’ve lived or worked over the last several decades.  As I began, in self defense, to study the science of psychopathy and learned how distinctly cruel, and easy to recognize psychopaths are, I started to see psychopathy on a huge scale among those who hold the political and economic control of our economy, our communities, and the ecology of the entire planet,” said Caffrey.

“Principally, they are seen within the Republican party–including all of the top officials of the George W. Bush presidential coup administration and the Supreme Court justices who overthrew the presidency, all of the Fox News TV hosts and talk radio Con Jocks like Limbaugh, and all of the charlatan televangelist con men who dupe the faithful,” he continued.

“The greatest threats to our nation and to the planet are from the psychopaths running the Republican party,” Caffrey emphasized. “We’ve got to reveal them now and vote them all out of office in 2012 to have any realistic hope for a livable future and a better America.”

In his 2012 northern California Congressional campaign’s debates, Caffrey, a 30-year climate crisis, Earth First! and anti-genetic engineering organizer and veteran of Green party politics who is running as a registered Democrat, received his strongest applause for declaring, “The largest organized crime syndicate and terrorism network in world history is the Republican party.  The second largest organized crime syndicate and terrorism network in world history is the Democratic party.”

“Our democracy has succumbed into a pathocracy, the last step towards fascism,” entreated Caffrey.  “The mass media is hypnotized into a pathological gentility with these conscienceless monster politicians and pundits.

“I can’t tell you how much it makes me cringe every time I see on TV news someone like MSNBC’s Hardball host Chris Matthews–when he has a psychopathic politician or Republican pundit as a guest–gleefully go out of his way, with apparently great admiration, to personally vouch for their character, in spite of the dastardly things coming out of their mouths.”

Caffrey has studied the psychiatric literature extensively for years, in particular the work of psychologist Robert D. Hare, the author of Without Conscience: The Disturbing World of the Psychopaths Among Us and co-author of Snakes in Suits: When Psychopaths Go To Work. Hare developed the PCL-R, the APA’s official evaluative criteria for psychopathy in prison communities.

Caffrey explained, “When people are wired up in a laboratory, normal humans have parts of their brains which light up when “emotional words” flash on a screen among words without emotional charge. But it’s ‘lights out’ in the brains of a psychopath. Their brains reacts to all of the words in exactly the same manner.  They are literally missing the brain circuitry which underlies conscience in other humans.

“We could literally wire-up every member of Congress and the Senate and the Presidential administration and uncover the “un-enlightened” by giving all of them the Emotional Words test. That will be a challenge I will personally make on the House floor as our Congressman when I’m elected in 2014.”

Caffrey received international attention and media coverage last Spring during the 2012 California primary, including two jokes about him told by Jay Leno and Andy’s appearances on MSNBC’s The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell and Now with Alex Wagner.  He was the first Congressional candidate to publicly smoke a joint, in protest as a medical marijuana patient on the Democratic Congressional campaign trail. He then pledged to do so again on the steps of Congress in Washington, DC to fight for the rights of medical marijuana patients and for full federal legalization of marijuana.

“No one should spend another hour in jail for using marijuana or engaging in the cannabis economy,” demanded Caffrey. He is now launching a marijuana dignity movement, which he calls Obamber Nation, (named after the famous skinny joint he smoked on TV,  the Obamber–in contrast to a fat joint, which is known as a Bomber) and will be leading Obamber Nation smoke-ins to pressure President Obama and Congress to permanently end the marijuana prohibition during Obama’s next term.

“Protesters are encouraged to create guerilla theater skits for the Obamber Nation Smoke-Ins to reenact President Obama’s practices in his pot-smoking days, as described in David Maraniss’s recent book, Barack Obama: The Story. Our strategy is to embarrass the President into doing the righteous thing and courageously leading the nation toward successfully legalizing pot. Of course, I hope my appeal to his own unpsychopathic conscience will inspire him to end RIGHT NOW the misery of the thousands of cancer patients who suffer every day because Obama is today shutting down hundreds of medical cannabis dispensaries all around the nation.

John Dean almost got it right when he wrote his book, Conservatives Without Conscience. Put that title together with that of Hare’s psychopathy book, Without Conscience, and the true reality is revealed: Conservatives Who Are Psychopaths!

“That’s who is running our nation, dismantling our democracy, and sending our entire planet to Hell! It’s no joke! You don’t have to look like Charles Manson to be a psychopath,” argued Caffrey. ”You can look like George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, Karl Rove, Sean Hannity, Ann Coulter, Rush Limbaugh, or Sarah Palin (truly, seven psychopaths!) and murder millions more people with votes and viewers than Manson could ever dream of murdering. Manson never started an illegal war, wiped Christianity out of an entire nation, or irradiated the Middle East with depleted uranium weapons like the psychopaths in the Republican and Democratic parties have done in Iraq, or even demolished an entire nation like they’ve done in Afghanistan. Manson is a chump when compared to psychopaths like Donald Rumsfeld and Condoleezza Rice.”

Monsanto Anti-Prop 37 Push Polling of anti-GMO Saboteur Andy Caffrey

During the evening of August 2, I received a call by a Monsanto-financed push pollster designed to dissuade me from voting yes on Proposition 37, the California GMO food-labeling initiative I’ve been working on for the better part of a yea now.

The design of the call is insidious and designed to grossly mislead the call recipient and literally turn their thinking about Prop 37 and GMO food into GMO mush. Fortunately I recorded that call… The upload should finish in a couple of minutes. Anybody else receive this Push Poll call? This is pretty freakin’ funny: Monsanto polls the GMO saboteur about GMO food labeling.
